Enjoy nature’s finest scenery and melt away the day’s pressures here at Huron Meadows Metropark. Our park offers year-round access to some of Southeast Michigan’s best recreation. Spend the day golfing on our par-72 course, cast a line off the pier at Maltby Lake, invite family or friends for a picnic under a shelter or spend the day wandering the trails and observing wildlife. In winter, glide through the landscape on well-groomed cross-country ski paths.
Your Huron-Clinton Metroparks are committed to removing barriers, creating and improving access and increasing recreational opportunities for all. As we look to the future, we will develop, update and improve facilities to meet or exceed ADA requirements – and look for ways to remove barriers to access so that individuals of all abilities have equitable access to Metroparks facilities, programs, services and activities. Adaptive Sit-Ski
For those who are unable to ski in an upright position, an adaptive cross-country sit-ski is available for rent. You can use the sit-ski on any cross-country trail, but Bucks Run is a relatively flat trail and is lit at night.
Golf Cart
An accessible golf cart is available when playing a round at the Huron Meadows Metropark golf course. Reservations can be made by calling the course, (810) 231-4084, a minimum of 24 hours in advance.
Maltby Lake Fishing Pier & Observation Deck
Our accessible fishing pier and observation deck features low railings, benches with backs and other amenities that enhance accessibility. The site is accessible by ramp (480-feet in length) or steps to the platform and has accessible parking along an accessible path. It is located at the Sunset Ridge Picnic Area.
Picnic Shelters
We’re adding new accessible picnic tables and grills to several picnic shelters throughout the park system. Work continues on installation of new concrete grill pads and securing picnic tables in arrangements that allow for unobstructed movement around them. Picnic shelter rental information will be updated on our website as changes are made.
Playground
The playground, located near the Sunset Ridge picnic shelter, can be accessed by a paved path. Play areas are available for kids ages 2-5 and 5-12 with features that include tot swings, belt swings, spring rockers, four-person seesaw and a ship themed play structure with a transfer station. The equipment is on engineered wood fiber (wood mulch) safety surfacing. Benches with backs are adjacent to the play area.
