Golf Carts

An accessible golf cart is available, when playing a round, at the Lake Erie Metropark golf course. Reservations can be made by calling the course, (734) 379-0048, a minimum of 24 hours in advance.

Great Wave Pool

The pool has zero depth entry with gradually sloping walks into the 8′ deep wave pool. Waves are turned on and off for periods of time. A small spray area has a variety of spray features. Single person tubes and life jackets are available for use. Shaded areas are available around the pool. Concrete and artificial turf surround the pool area.

This facility has changing rooms and showers for men and women.

Hike-Bike Trail

A relatively flat, 3-mile paved trail traverses through the park. Sections of the trail, near the water, can be underwater at times.

The bicycle repair station near Cove Point Picnic Area can double as wheelchair repair stations.

Dogs are allowed on the trails, but must be on a 6-foot leash at all times.

Marina Fishing Pier & Observation Deck

Our accessible fishing pier and observation deck feature low railings, benches with backs, and accessible picnic tables. An accessible parking area is located less than a quarter of a mile past the last marina parking lot. It is located along the Lake Erie shoreline at the marina.

Nature Trails

The nature trails are comprised of compact gravel substrate with mostly flat terrain and very little increase in elevation.

Cherry Island Trail, 1.25 miles,  is the most accessible trail in the park. The trail an be accessed by the Marshlands Museum by a paved walkway from the overflow gravel parking lot at the Boat Launch. The mostly flat trail loop is partially paved, with most of the trail being aggregate with long sections of boardwalk.

Please note, water levels can change dramatically in a short period of time, depending on the season and the direction or intensity of the wind. If winds are from the east or southeast, please call ahead to get the latest information on trail conditions. During extreme conditions, some portions of the trails will flood.

Pets, bicycles, and running on the trail are prohibited.

Picnic Shelters

We’re adding new accessible picnic tables and grills to several picnic shelters throughout the park system. Work continues on installation of new concrete grill pads and securing picnic tables in arrangements that allow for unobstructed movement around them. Picnic shelter rental information will be updated on our website as changes are made.
