2026 JUNE JUBILEE: Gather, Reflect, Celebrate
In honor of Juneteenth, celebrate community, culture, and the power of storytelling at the 2026 June Jubilee: Gather, Reflect, Celebrate! This relaxed, free, senior-focused event will showcase an uplifting blend of music, storytelling, and hands-on creativity in a space centered on connection and reflection.Event Highlights:– Live storytelling– Book giveaways– Guided park shuttle tours– A live band with space for dancing—or simply sit back and enjoy– Easy, make-and-take crafts– Food & TreatsCome connect through stories, nature, and music as we reflect, celebrate, and honor the spirit of Juneteenth. Bring your friends, your stories, and your love of community.

Ages: Adults 62 & up.Cost: FREE! A Metroparks annual or daily pass is required to enter any Metropark.Location: Lake St. Clair Metropark, Thomas Welsh Activity Center
What to Expect:This program will take place indoors, except for the optional park tour, which will be conducted on an accessible shuttle bus. Please note there may be periods of louder sound during the event. Participate in activities, move around the space, or remain seated and enjoy the program. The Thomas Walsh Activity Center (TWAC) includes restrooms, air conditioning, and is fully accessible for mobility devices.If you would like to request an accommodation or have questions about accessibility, please contact the park office at 586-463-4581. We ask that you reach out at least two weeks before the event so we can best support your needs. If you contact us with less notice, we will do our best to meet your needs.If you have a group that is interested in attending, please reach out about a Get Out and Play grant that can provide reimbursable transportation costs (up to $500/bus). The grant is available for non-profit organizations and public institutions who serve under-resourced seniors within Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw, and Wayne Counties.
