Your Metroparks, Your Stories.

My wife and I love being in the Metroparks!! 🙂 Our stories are rather boring, however. Our best wildlife spotting may have been an 18-inch (?) diameter-shell snapping turtle!

Our grandkids really like Kensington. The older boys (5 & 7) love the water slides, going to eat at the nearby snack counter, and then sliding some more. They also love the sledding hills and the differences between small, medium, and large. After a couple of walks up the medium or large hill, they need a rest break! They and their 2-year-old brother love the Farm Center and the Nature Center (especially the turtles).

We do go to other Metroparks, also. One time, at Indian Springs, our 5 year old was playing Frisbee catch with me as we walked along a nice path. After a while, he accidentally threw the Frisbee into the woods. He thought the Frisbee was gone forever; it was late spring, so leaves and ground cover were abundant. But we carefully trudged into the woods, watching out for poison ivy. Eventually, we found the Frisbee, but we also found wild flowers and “shelf-fungus”, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Maybe not intense joy, but certainly fun peace.
