This winter workshop for Michigan-area Interpreters and other informal educators will be held in White Lake, MI at the Indian Springs Metropark Environmental Discovery Center. From its beautiful location amongst glacially crafted hills, nestled between prairieland and abundant wetlands, it is an ideal location to host this professional workshop.
Guided by the theme: Connecting with Nature: Inspiring a Lifelong Passion for the Natural World, enjoy sessions led by your peers on topics relevant to the field of Interpretation. From the light-hearted to serious content, and professional development, the sessions during this workshop will offer a wide variety of experiences. Winter Interpretive Workshop (WIW) 2026 will provide an opportunity for you to learn, network, reflect and grow. Don’t miss out – space is limited so register early! Registered participants will receive an email survey with session and lunch choices prior to the workshop date.
What to Expect:
Most of this workshop will take place indoors. There may be outdoor session options throughout the day. Paths for outdoor sessions in the nature area may be dirt, grass or gravel, slightly hilly, and may include some bridges and boardwalks. The paths may be covered in deep snow, so waterproof boots and warm attire are recommended. Lunch will be provided.
