Kayaking for Kingfisher Birds

REGISTER HERE

Stony Creek’s waters are a popular fishing spot—not just for people, but for a wide variety of wildlife, including the striking Belted Kingfisher. Join us for a peaceful, adults-only scenic paddle, where quiet waterways create the perfect setting to observe birds and other animals in their natural habitat.

As we glide along the shoreline, we’ll keep our eyes open for kingfishers diving for fish, waterfowl resting along the banks, and other wildlife that call the park home. This relaxed paddle is designed to slow things down, offering time to enjoy nature, learn about local species, and experience the park from a unique on-the-water perspective.

Participants may bring their own kayak or rent one from Stony Creek Metropark Boat Rental. Rental rates are $12 per hour for single-person kayaks and $18 per hour for double-person kayaks.

What to Expect:
This program will meet at the boat rental and will take place primarily on the water. This program is weather dependent. Kayak rentals will be available for a cost, or participants can bring their own kayak. Participants will need to be able to paddle at a gentle pace and control their boat in a group setting.

Ages: Adults 18 and up. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.
Time: 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Cost: $5 per adult
Location: Stony Creek Metropark, Mount Vernon Picnic Area
