Program Description:

Students will climb aboard a tractor drawn wagon ride for a visit to our Sugar Shack. Once there, students will learn the changes in maple sugaring through time from the native tribes to modern day. Students will also learn about the parts of a tree and their function, how to correctly identify a Sugar Maple using various markers, discover why Sugar Maples are the best source for syrup, observe the proper tapping technique to preserve the health of the tree, and see how a wood-fired evaporator turns maple sap into delicious maple syrup. Large groups may require extra time. Weather permitting. Our wagons are wheelchair accessible.

This program is only available in March as part of the Farm Exploration Tour. This progam can run 30 or 60 minutes.
