“I frequently walk with Zephyr, our family dog, on the trail near Stony Creek Lake. This particular evening the setting sun was shining through storm clouds that were slowly drifting away with a passing storm. I ended up painting this scene so I would remember it. The medium used is acrylic on canvas. Stony Creek Metropark has numerous places that are my favorites for sunsets near the water or shining through the trees. The golden, red, orange, and pink hues light up the sky, the water, and the trees with color”

(A) 5 months!
(Q) What is your role at the Metroparks?
(A) I’m the Social Media & Content Manager, so I oversee our social media strategy and create content for all of our social platforms. It’s a fun mix of strategy and creativity.
(Q) What do you love most about the Metroparks?
(A) What I love most about working for this Metroparks is that every day is different. I get to explore so many beautiful places across southeast Michigan, see firsthand how parks benefit people and communities, and meet so many people along the way. One of my favorite parts of the job is getting to help visitors and staff share their stories and memories about the Metroparks.

(Q) How long have you worked at the Metroparks?
(A) I started working for the Metroparks in the summer of 95’ as a seasonal maintenance employee at Stony Creek.

(Q) What is your role at the Metroparks?
(A) I am the Park Operations Manager. I get to lead a great team of dedicated employees who work hard to make Stony Creek a clean, safe, and inviting experience for all!

(Q) What do you love most about the Metroparks?
(A) The Metroparks has so much opportunity for new experiences for everybody. It’s easy to find a reason to visit in any season!

(Q) How long have you worked at the Metroparks?
(A) I have been working at the Metroparks for 7 years.

(Q) What is your role at the Metroparks?
(A) I’m a graphic designer who works on a variety of creative marketing projects. Beyond ads and signage, I especially enjoy designing for our Pop-up Shop, creating stickers, and developing visuals for events and promotions.

(Q) What do you love most about the Metroparks?
(A) What I love most about the Metroparks is being surrounded by nature and knowing the work we do helps protect it. It’s rewarding to play even a small part in keeping these spaces open and welcoming, while also having the chance to bring creativity into the mix.
