Wondering what you can do outdoors with your family? Join us at Lake St. Clair Metropark (rain or shine) for lots of ideas and activities to enjoy with your family in the great outdoors. Special activities include wagon rides, a straw bale maze, guided nature hikes, and other nature activities. This program is a cooperative effort among members of the Healthy Kids, Healthy Futures Coalition. All ages.
Bring your rollerblades and longboards to take a ride through the park. We’ll start at the nature center, then head out to Huron Point. We’ll look for the changing colors of fall and search for wildlife along the way. Ages 10 and up. Please preregister, 586-463-4332. Time: 10 a.m. & 2 p.m.
Bring your little one out for guided play through music, movement, sensory, and group play. This month is all about mammal- they’re colors and patterns, where they live and where they make their home. Ages 2-3 with parent. Please preregister, 586-463-4332.
Get out and see what you can do with the plants you find outside. We’ll go for a walk to ID plants you can use to dye with. Then we’ll collect some plant samples and go through the whole process of dyeing, so you can go home and begin your new projects. Materials will be provided. Ages 10 and up. Would you like to enjoy the park with a different view? Join us in our 34-foot canoe as we paddle through the marsh looking for wildlife. The canoe holds 18 people. This is an easy paced canoe that you can help paddle, or just enjoy the scenery. Please preregister, 586-463-4332.
Come out and see the boats on land and water. There will also be boating accessories, food vendors and much more.

Celebrate the fall migration of hummingbirds and monarchs. Learn about these beautiful animals and how they prepare for the long journey south. Hike with us to see birds and butterflies on the trail, and watch a state-licensed bird bander band and record data for songbirds.
