The Metroparks have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Picking one story is difficult for sure but there is one milestone that I hit during the pandemic and the Metroparks allowed a safe place for my family to gather to help me celebrate.

I ran my first 10K which was double the distance I had been running previously. In a time where everything was canceled and the world we knew was uncertain I was able to keep moving in a safe and comfortable space that had been there for me my whole life. Life felt normal inside Lake St. Clair Metropark that day.

I still go there to run; now I’m training for my next challenge the half marathon. I know that I’ll hit the milestones I need to hit with the cool breeze of the unofficial “Great Lake” that is St. Clair blowing in my hair. -Sarah
