When confronting my new life , post retirement in January 2026, I decided to drive to St. Clair Metropark. It was a frigid 20 degree day, with winds whipping off the lake. I got out of my car and wrapped like an Eskimo , took my Rollator and walked from the parking lot in front of the administration building, took the lakefront, and exited through the abandoned Tot Lot. The walk was so invigorating and challenging, that I returned 2 days later. I did this throughout February, March and April… each day bringing a renewed wonder of nature to my life! By June I was fully alive, started writing my new book, happy to have a new lease on my life! Thank you to the groundskeepers, for salting the cement, clearing the snow and making it possible to help me reinvent my life at age 72! I love the squirrels, deer, geese, ducks and swans. It’s a privilege to visit this park often… and I am grateful to share my humble story! 🌹🙏❤️Laura Gutmann
