I moved to Michigan in the summer of 2023 – my 29 year marriage had ended and I had just started a brand new job that brought me to Detroit from the South where I had lived since 1989. One of my best friends is a native Michigander and when she learned that I was looking for a place to live in the Detroit area she told me, “You HAVE to live near a Metropark! You can do all of your running and cycling there easily!” I took her words to heart and used the Metroparks map as a guide for looking for my next home – and I found one a mere 2.5 miles from a Metropark! Having a safe place to run and bike so near my new home gave me such peace and joy during a time of great change and upheaval in my life! I will always be thankful for the Metroparks and the warm welcome they gave me as a new Michigander! -Jennifer
