My Metroparks story is one of grief and gratitude. My husband and I first started the challenge when we retired in 2022. My most memorable park incident was when we visited Stony Creek for the first time, and I was certain that the loop around the lake was only four miles. After searching for our car at the beach (when we had in fact parked at the boat launch) and completing the loop, we had walked over seven miles! Suddenly in 2024 Tom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and he passed in January of 2025. Since then this trail challenge has been my saving grace and my therapy, my private time to grieve, reflect and be grateful for what we had. And for that I am grateful for the Metroparks.
