Kensington Metropark is one of my favorite places to visit in Michigan. If you love being on the water, you can rent kayaks, paddle boards, or even swan pedal boats to explore beautiful Kent Lake. During the summer, there are two beaches to enjoy, including one with a splash pad and water slide that’s perfect for families.

The park spans more than 4,500 acres and offers miles of scenic hiking trails, paved bike paths, picnic areas, and playgrounds.

But my favorite part is the Nature Center. It’s one of the best places in southeast Michigan to see wildlife up close, including sandhill cranes, swans, great blue herons, turtles, deer, chipmunks, and dozens of bird species.

We also love the Farm Center, where you can meet goats, horses, donkeys, pigs, ducks, and other farm animals.

Whether you’re looking for outdoor adventure, family fun, or a peaceful escape into nature, Kensington Metropark has something for everyone.
