While hiking the Indian Springs Metropark trails, students will explore and observe various wetlands, including the marsh, swamp, and vernal pond. We will discuss the important roles wetlands play for animals, humans, and the environment. Students will investigate aquatic macro-invertebrates up-close in the microscope lab to complete a biological water quality assessment of the pond. Finally, we will perform tests on water samples to assess the suitability and carrying capacity for different organisms.
