Michigan history comes alive as students paddle a 34-foot canoe, 18-passenger replica of a Voyageur canoe around the island in Stony Creek lake. Artifacts and props help participants learn about the importance of the beaver to the French fur trade era.

In the event of inclement weather (ex. High wind speeds, thunderstorms), program must be cancelled and cause cancellation with less than 24 hours notice. If cancellation occurs, an indoor Nature Center program could be offered. 18 people maximum per canoe, with a minimum 6 adults required. Staff will call or email to inform of any cancellations and provide options avilable. PFD’s and paddles provided. Groups of more than 18 people would need to schedule multiple canoe trips.

This program is available May – June and September. this progam meets at the Stony Creek Mt. Vernon Boat Rental.
