Students are challenged to use their “nature detective” skills, following a series of biological clues to gain a better understanding of predator/prey characteristics and ultimately the identity of a mystery animal. Students will have the opportunity to role play in a game of survival; becoming the mystery animal, they must compete for a limited resource and discover how resource availability influences carrying capacity. During the guided hike, students will search for evidence of both predators and prey living in their natural habitat and identify the necessary resources for survival (food, water, shelter).
