Students will learn what a habitat is and determine what it needs to provide for successful animal survival. They will also learn that marshes are a type of wetland habitat found in the area. Students will better understand the importance of wetlands through an activity that demonstrates marshes are beneficial to both animals and humans. Students will discover the plants and animals found in the marsh by observing different plant specimens, pelts and animal mounts. Students will then participate in an activity where, as a group, they must create a simple habitat design for an animal.
