Hike to See the Owls

Learn about Michigan owl species, then take guided hike to view Lake St. Clair Metropark’s famous Great Horned Owl pair. During this time of the season we will hope to see mom sitting in her bucket nest. There will be a spotting scope so everyone can get an up-close view! Ages 5 and up. Red-winged Blackbirds Return

Need help getting your team ready for Science Olympiad? Session 2 participants will meet live arthropods with an outdoor up-close experience using various methods and tools of collecting (all specimens will be returned to natural habitat). We will engage students using a variety of interactive study tools. Content focus: arthropod species list, visually recognize and describe the unique physical and behavioral characteristics, discuss biology, ecology, and conservation of each species, and economic impacts. We will hold a “mock event” (5 stations) for students to get comfortable with the station rotation process. There will be coach-led study stations set up for teams to try out their existing knowledge. Program lasts 2.5 hours. Please preregister, (586) 463-4332

Litter, such as fishing line and plastic bags, is dangerous for wildlife and unsightly to park visitors. Help keep our park beautiful, and safe for people and wildlife! Check in first thing in the morning for area assignment, then meet us back at the Activity Center for lunch. Individuals, families and groups welcome. Free daily park entry as a volunteer. Bird Migration Day – Early Bird Hike

Celebrate International Migratory Bird Day with a hike along the nature trails to see what birds are here. Learn what to look for to I.D. migratory birds.
