Girl Scout Brownies Hiker

Before we head out on the trail, there are many things to learn about hiking! We will teach you how to be prepared to take a safe hike. Bring your favorite trail pack, a water bottle, maybe binoculars and definitely good walking shoes. We’ll hike rain or shine so dress for the weather. Brownies will fulfill requirements to earn their Brownie Hiker badge.

Owl Prowl

When night falls, the “wood tigers” come out – owls! Learn which species are found in your park, what they eat, and get an up close and personal view of owls in our collection. Make an owl caller to take home. We will walk, quietly, to areas where the local owls hang out in an attempt to call them in for a closer look. We’ll also try to spot other wildlife and call in a coyote or two. Bring a flashlight and dress for the weather. Ages 12 and older.

If rocks are your “thing”, this is your workshop! Scouts will go on a rock hunt, test minerals, identify geology in the buildings around us, learn about geology careers, and discover geology in action. All of the requirements for the Elective Adventure will be met. Each scout will receive a Michigan Rock Card to take home!
