Now younger kids get their chance to work at the farm! If your child has the energy and enthusiasm for farm chores, but maybe not the muscle power yet, this is their program! Similar to our popular “Farmer for a Day,” but designed for the capabilities of younger kids. Farmer Jr. has kids work alongside Kensington Farmers to learn about life on the farm: meeting and feeding animals, hauling straw, doing chores and having fun! Ages: 6 - 8

Invasive Species Pull – Kensington

Join us in removing invasive Japanese hedge parsley from Kensington Metropark’s Disc Golf Course. We will meet in the Disc Golf parking lot (look for the Metroparks vehicle and blue flag). Volunteers receive free day entry to the park and a free round of disc golf, just let the toll booth attendant know you are at the park for a volunteer workday.

Pond Dipping

Catchin’ Critters Camp

Critters is the name of the game for this three-day camp at Oakwoods Metropark.  Whether they’re smooth and slimy, small and scaly, quick and furry or covered in chitinous exoskeletons, we’ll be searching for them in the woods, ponds and wetlands at our park. You will also discover ways to build small animal traps, where to look for specific animals, and what animals we might expect to find at the park. Bring a sack lunch and water bottle. Ages: 8–14.
