Miles of our trails are waiting for you. Spend some time alone in nature or bring your family, your friends or even your furry four-legged companion. Check-in at the Activity Center to receive your map of destinations within the park and other goodies, then head out on a refreshing walk and some you-time with nature. Dress for the weather and don’t forget to bring your favorite photo-taking device. All dogs must be on a 6-foot leash. All ages and abilities welcome.

Drop-in Owl Pellet Dissecting Day

4th Annual Santa Scamper (5K) Fun Run @ Eastwood Beach – Stony Creek Metropark

We're hoping you can dust off your running shoes, put the Thanksgiving leftovers down, grab a Santa hat and join us in raising money to bring joy to children touched by cancer. Inspired by Ella Tosch who lost her battle in September of 2015 but adored this time of year, we'll be loading up our own sleigh with toys and paying Children's Hospital and The Ronald McDonald House of Detroit another visit just in time for Christmas. We're sure Santa won't mind the extra help! Registration for the 5K is $25 but everyone is welcome. Feel free to walk, run, trot, jog or scamper.  We'll have a route mapped out so you don't risk running into the abominable snowman off the main path.

Wake up with the birds! Birding is a worldwide recreational activity enjoyed by millions. Start a new hobby or hone your birding skills. For beginners, an indoor program covering binocular use and basic bird identification will be offered at 8:30. More advanced birders can join the group at 9:00 at the Kensington Metropark Nature Center for the outdoor walk. Bring your own binoculars and favorite morning beverage. A limited number of binoculars are available to borrow and hot beverages may be purchased at the Nature Center. Please dress for the weather—we will be outdoors rain or shine. Ages 12 and older.
