September 25 @ 8:00 am - 10:30 am
This program is designed for people with different sensory processing abilities and their families. Join us for an accessible, relaxed-paced hike on a 1/3-mile of our paved Pondside Trail. We will leave from the Park Office Picnic Shelter to explore using our senses in nature through interactive demonstration, like searching for camouflaged objects, learning bird calls, feeling different textures, and scent investigation with scent jars.
A quiet space will be available to use as needed during the program.
The Indian Springs Environmental Discovery Center (EDC) will also open on hour earlier, at 8 a.m., for sensory-friendly exploration. Sounds will be turned down and lights turned low, where possible. The guided hike will take place at 9:15 a.m. and will leave from the Park Office Picnic Shelter.
Social stories and sensory friendly building maps will be emailed ahead of time.
Fun for all ages! Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.
