Sensory-Friendly Hike

September 11 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

This program is designed for people with different sensory processing abilities and their families. Join us for an accessible, relaxed paced hike on a 1/2-mile of our mixed gravel nature trail. We’ll explore using our senses in nature through interactive demonstration, like searching for camouflaged objects, learning bird calls, feeling different textures, and scent investigation with scent jars.

A quiet space will be available to use as needed during the program.

The Kensington Metropark Nature Center will also open at 9 a.m. This is an hour before the building will open to the public. Enjoy a crowd-free opportunity to explore the Nature Center at your own pace. Sounds will be turned down and lights turned low, where possible. The guided hike will take place at 10:15 a.m.

Social stories and sensory friendly building maps will be emailed ahead of time.

Fun for all ages! Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.
