Salamander Migration Night Hike
March 25 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Events Navigation
Spring warmth and rains bring amphibians out of their long hibernation. Head out on the trail with one of our interpreters for the chance to witness the strange and slow stampede of salamanders as they sally forth to the safety of one of Stony Creek Metropark’s most important sanctuaries, vernal ponds. In the right conditions, we can observe these elusive creatures while they’re most active, during egg laying season. We’ll likely hear some frogs calling too! Beforehand, and along the way, we’ll learn more about these unique amphibians that go unseen most of the year. Please dress for the weather, and bring a flashlight. Social distancing and face coverings are required.
Ages 8 and up.
Time: 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Cost: $5 per person
