April 27 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Location: Kensington Metropark, Group Camp Rd., Milford, MI 48381
Date: Saturday April 27, 10am – 1pm
Join us in removing invasive garlic mustard from Kensington Metropark. We will meet at Group Camp, off Martindale Rd (look for the Metroparks vehicle and blue flag). Volunteers receive free day entry to the park, day passes for cars will be available at the volunteer day.
All necessary tools and equipment will be provided, as well as a water cooler and snacks. We will provide gloves, but feel free to bring your favorite pair! Please be sure to dress for working outdoors and in areas that may include poison ivy (long pants, layered clothing, closed-toe shoes, rain gear, hat, sunscreen, etc.).
Garlic mustard is a short herbaceous plant that grows in the forest understory. One plant can produce thousands of seeds that can germinate for up to five years. Garlic mustard crowds out native plants important to our ecosystems. Volunteers are an essential part in our fight against invasive species and in our work to restore and conserve natural areas. Your help allows the Metroparks to protect unique ecosystems that will be enjoyed for generations to come.
