Native Seed Harvest at Stony Creek

October 7, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join us at Stony Creek Metropark to harvest seeds from milkweed and other native plants. This seed will be used, in the future, to spread native plants to other areas of the Metroparks! We will start with a brief discussion on native plants of the prairie and their role in the ecosystem before heading out to collect seeds.

Native plants are the cornerstone of a healthy ecosystem and support native wildlife and pollinators. We hope to “spread the love” throughout the parks and need all hands on deck to accomplish this!

Please come dressed for a day outside and off trail (closed-toe shoes, long pants, hat) and bring your  work gloves, water, and face mask. Volunteers receive free day entry to the park the day they volunteer.

A liability waiver is required for all participants; if under 18, a parent/legal guardian needs to sign as well.  A health screening form MUST also be completed on the day you volunteer.

Fun for all ages.

Time: 10 a.m. – noon

Cost: Free!

Location: Stony Creek Metropark, Nature Center Parking Lot

Registration is required by October 6.
