Farm Camp offers children a memorable experience and the opportunity to discover the wonders of life on the farm. Each day will offer a new adventure. The camp is very much hands-on and provides children with farm experiences that will leave a lasting impression. Campers will participate in daily farm chores as well as various organized activities. Planned activities may include: outdoor adventures like fishing, hikes (with goats!) and scavenger hunts; craft projects such as candle-dipping, pierced tin, and paper mache; pioneer life experiences like barn-raising, rope skills, or playing old-fashioned games; milking a cow or goat; or grooming and harnessing draft horses before going for a horse-drawn hayride.
The farm staff is looking forward to sharing the sights, sounds, and smells of a real working farm with the campers. The day includes many different activities, most of which are held outside. The following tips are included to ensure everyone has a fun-filled experience at the farm.
- Dress for the weather. We will go outside rain or shine!
- Make sure your camper wears comfortable, durable shoes. No sandals please.
- Wear clothing that can get a little dirty.
- Pack a hearty, well-balanced lunch. Farmers get hungry! However, due to the prevalence of nut allergies, we ask that you not pack any peanut/ tree nut products in your child’s lunch. (We do have a refrigerator and microwave which the children may use.)
Due to the variety of jobs that must be done by the farm staff, there will be no early drop off or late pick up available. Space is limited and camp fills up fast! For ages 8 – 13. Please preregister, (248) 684-8632.
