Calling all curious minds! Birds are the eyes and ears of the forest, and in this hands-on program at Kensington Metroparks, older elementary kids will become wildlife detectives. Learn the “language” of birds—their calls, movements, and behaviors—and uncover the secret happenings of the forest: when the fox prowls, where the owl roosts, when the Cooper’s hawk soars, and even where your neighborhood cat sneaks. No experience is necessary, and even keen birders will sharpen their skills while having fun discovering the hidden world of our feathered friends!

What to Expect:
This program starts indoors and ends outdoors. Time will be spent on a leisurely walk with frequent stops. Our walk will be up to ½ mile, will be a round-trip, and will conclude at the Kensington Nature Center. The path is dirt and gravel and mostly flat and level, and we’ll also be on grass and lawn. A group activity or game with instructions will be involved.

Ages: 9 and up. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.
Time: 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Cost: $3 per child, $5 per adult

Pre-registration is required by 4 p.m. the day before the program.
