At the Historic Center:
MAY INTERPRETIVE EVENTS
“Geocache Class,” Saturday, May 10 at 1 p.m., Historic Center. Learn about this sport/hobby that encourages people to get outdoors. During the session, learn about the operation of the GPS, search for a cache together and then search for nine other caches at the mill. Two GPS units are available for loan or you may bring your own. Fee: $3 per person. Pre-registration required.
“Barns, ” Saturday, May 17 at 2 p.m. The old-style barn, once common on the rural landscape, is rapidly disappearing. These unique structures will be explored through pictures, artifacts, two barns on site and an opportunity to attend a barn raising. Pre-registration required.
“Old Home Remedies,” Sunday, May 18 at 2 p.m. Join an interpreter and learn about the myths of home remedies. Participants will make relaxing bath salts and lip balm to take home. Fee: $5 per person. Pre-registration required. This program is for ages 15 and older.
“Brownies – Puppets Try-it,” Saturday, May 24 at 10 a.m., and 1 p.m., Historic Center. All requirements for this badge will be covered during these sessions, including making several styles of dolls and puppets. Fee: $5 per Scout. Pre-registration required.
“With the Farmer’s Almanac,” Sunday, May 25 at 1 p.m., Historic Center. For 215 years, the Almanac has offered good, common sense advice about the weather, food, remedies, gardening and stories. Donations are welcome. Pre-registration required.
“Top to Bottom Tour,” Monday, May 26 at 2 p.m., Historic Center. Visit all four floors of the mill, see parts of the operation, learn about mill history and hear stories about Wolcott and other mills. Fee: $5 per adult/$2 for children. Pre-registration required.
“Art in the Park, Saturday, May 31 from 10 am to 4 p.m. Observe local artists as they capture the beauty of the mill in many forms and view their other works with an opportunity to purchase a special piece. Children ages 6 to 11 years can learn to draw during a session to be held at 2 p.m. The basics of pencil sketching will be covered followed by an outside trip to sketch subjects in the sun. Fee: $2 per child, pre-registration required for this drawing program.

“Sundaes and Wagon Rides for Moms,” Sunday, May 11, noon to 3 p.m., Farm Learning Center. Celebrate Mother’s Day with a sundae and a horse-drawn wagon ride. Fee: $4 per person, moms are free.
“Horse Workshop I,” Saturday, May 17 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., Farm Learning Center. This program includes horse safety and care, hands-on handling and grooming techniques, crafts to take home and a horse-drawn wagon ride. Fee: $5 per person. Pre-registration required.
