MAY INTERPRETIVE EVENTS

“Tadpoles,” Saturday, May 3 at 10 a.m., Nature Center. “Mother’s Day Flowers” will be this month’s theme. Stories, crafts and fun can always be expected during this hour-long program. For children ages 2 to five years. Fee: $4 per child. Pre-registration required.

“Nature NUTS,” Saturday, May 3 at 10 a.m., Nature Center. “Wild About Flowers” will be this month’s theme. For children ages 6 to 10 years. Fee: $4 per child. Pre-registration required.

“In Search of Wood Warblers,” Saturday, May 3 at 10 a.m., Nature Center. These beautiful neo-tropical birds may be hard to find, but they are well worth the effort. Enjoy an exciting bird walk. Fee: $4 per person. Pre-registration required.

“Animal Adaptation,” Sunday, May 4 at 1 p.m., Nature Center. What makes animals so unique? Find out why animals are the way they are during this hands-on program. Fee: $3 per person. Pre-registration required.

“North American Migratory Bird Count,”Saturday, May 10, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Nature Center. Become part of this national count. Advanced birders will be available to lead walks for those who may need a little help. This is a fun way to learn more about birding as a hobby. Pre-registration required.

“Mother’s Day Teas,” Sunday, May 11 at 1 p.m., Nature Center. Treat mom to a fun program on the history of tea, includes sampling a variety of teas, and eating cucumber sandwiches. This is an informal program. Fee: $4 per person. Pre-registration required.

“Sustainable Nature,” Saturday, May 17 at 11 a.m., Nature Center. Learn about unique ways to reduce, reuse and recycle everyday household items during this extremely informative program. Fee: $5 per person. Pre-registration required.

“For Goodness Snakes,” Saturday, May 24 at 11 a.m., Nature Center. Take an up-close look at some resident reptiles, and learn about the snakes of the Great Lakes region. Fee: $4 per person. Pre-registration required.

“Frogs and Salamanders,” Saturday, May 24 at 6 p.m., Nature Center. Amphibians are awesome. Find out why during this fun look at area frogs, toads and salamanders. Fee: $6 adult/$4 child. Pre-registration required.

“Wildflowers of Oakwoods,” Saturday, May 31 at 10 a.m., Nature Center. This is a leisurely walk in search of these magnificent treasures. Learn to identify some of Oakwoods’ beautiful wildflowers, while learning some interesting facts about them. Fee: $3 per person. Pre-registration required.
