MAY INTERPRETIVE EVENTS
“Crack O’ Dawn Coffee Club,” Saturday, May 3 at 7 a.m., Marshlands Museum and Nature Center. Wake up and come over to the museum for an early morning coffee and a donut, followed by a get-up-and-go nature walk. Donations accepted. Pre-registration required.
“Frog Focus Feature,”Sunday, May 4 at 2 p.m., Marshlands Museum and Nature Center. Join an interpreter to investigate frog life through specimens, live examples, and an outside frog hunt. Fee: $2 per person. Pre-registration required.
“Critter Contact,” Saturday, May 10 at 10:30 a.m., Marshlands Museum and Nature Center. Preschool and kindergarten-aged kids are invited to become “Critter Contactors.” Get up close and personal with a critter, learn some eyeball skills, and make a critter craft. Fee: $2 per child. Pre-registration required.
“Mom’s Way Nature Walk,” Sunday, May 11 at 2 p.m., Marshlands Museum and Nature Center. Look for evidence of animal moms while discussing how they care for their young. Fee: $2 per person, Mom’s free. Pre-registration required.
“Eagle’s Aerie Blitz Build,” Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Marshlands Museum and Nature Center. Become a part of Lake Erie Metropark’s Eagle Project by assisting in the building of an enclosure. Lake Erie Metropark is hoping to house a rehabilitated bald eagle sometime in the near future. Please contact the museum to volunteer or contribute to the eagle fund.
“Archeology Saturday,” Saturday, May 24 at 10 a.m., Marshlands Museum and Nature Center. Families and potential archaeologists of all ages are invited to participate in our ongoing archaeology dig. Join us for an overview of the project and explanation of artifacts and then see what historical secrets the soil will yield. Wear old clothes and bring a flat mason’s trowel, if possible. Pre-registration required.
“Muskrat Club – Bald is Beautiful,” Saturday, May 24 at 10:30 a.m., Marshlands Museum and Nature Center. Kids from kindergarten through 3rd grade are invited to explore nature and history as part of the Muskrat Club. Look into the world of the impressive bald eagle and see what it takes to be such an awesome bird. Fee: $2 per child. Pre-registration required.
“Creature Feature – Aquatic Investigation,” Saturday, May 31 at 2 p.m., Marshlands Museum and Nature Center. Most of the animals living at Lake Erie Metropark are on the small side. In fact, they are not only on the really small side, but they are also on the wet side as well – and they’re also quite homely. To prove this, help gather some water samples and look at them under the microscope. Fee: $2 per person. Pre-registration required.
