NO LIFEGUARDS ON BEACH AT METRO BEACH
The swimming beach at Metro Beach Metropark will not have lifeguards on duty this summer. Lifeguards are on duty at the pool only.


DETROIT SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
The “Target Harmony in the Metroparks” concert will be held on Saturday, June 27, beginning at 8 p.m. The DSO will again perform a free family-friendly concert. The concert is free with a vehicle entry permit. Concertgoers should arrive early for the best seating and should bring a chair or blanket. Picnic baskets are allowed, but no glass containers. Food will also be available at the park's concession area.

MUSIC, DANCING AT METRO BEACH
Dancing will be featured two nights a week all summer long at Metro Beach. All concerts and dance events will take place at the Thomas S. Welsh Activity Center. For more information, call Metro Beach Metropark at 1-800-477-3172.

PARK AMENITIES
Metro Beach Metropark features a one-mile shoreline and a 1,600 foot boardwalk on picturesque Lake St. Clair. This 770-acre recreational facility is a haven for boaters, swimmers and anglers. The marsh area is home to an abundance of waterfowl, and is a top bird watching site. The park features a swimming pool, spray park, marinas, nature center, Par-3 golf course, adventure golf and picnic areas. No dogs or pets are allowed in the park.

ACTIVITY CENTER
Facility for summer dance programs and concerts. Program schedules available at Park Office. Center is available to rent for parties, weddings, meetings, etc. Catering available through Advantage Food Service.

BIKING
A two-mile flat paved trail leads through the park and connects to the trail along Metro Parkway.


BIRDING
One of the top 10 birding sites in Michigan, Metro Beach is host to a variety of birds during spring and fall migration, including warblers, waterfowl and hummingbirds. Bring your binoculars to spot loons on Lake St. Clair in the spring. Nature interpreters maintain a park bird species list. A variety of birding programs are held throughout the year to help people get started in and learn more about birding. Come to the Bird Migration Festival held each spring.


COURT GAMES
Four tennis courts and 20 shuffleboard courts are located near the Tot Lot, with equipment available free of charge. Three sand volleyball courts are located within the park.


BOATING AND LAUNCHING
Eight ramps located near the North Marina along the Black Creek provide access to Lake St. Clair. Personal watercraft and sailboards can enter the water at the day sail launch located near the golf course. Metro Beach also has three marinas for transient dockage for up to 320 boats. Pump-out service at marina. Metropark boat launch permit required for each watercraft.

Boat Show USA, featuring hundreds of boats on display, is held in the fall.

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING
Two and one-half miles of marked cross country ski trails on well marked, relatively flat terrain.


FISHING
Huron Point provides about one-half mile of shoreline fishing on Lake St. Clair. Shoreline fishing is not allowed along the beach or at the marinas April through October.



An 18-hole, Par-3 golf course with hole distances from 43 to 101 yards is near the West Boardwalk. Special weekday senior rates.

HIKING
A freshwater marsh, meadow and wood lot, all teeming with wildlife, make the two miles of trails found in the nature center Area of the park a haven for nature enthusiasts. Flat terrain.


ICE SKATING
A family ice skating rink is located on the beach. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.


ICE HOCKEY
An ice hockey rink is located in the West Playfield. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.


ICE FISHING
The area is known as a good perch fishing site, with anglers fishing on the canals, north boat basin and on Lake St. Clair.


NATURE CENTER
The nature center features seasonal exhibits, waterfowl displays, a kids' corner and more. Park interpreters host nature walks and interpretive programs.

SPRAY PARK
Stop in to cool off at the Squirt Zone! It's free! Open daily 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.


SWIMMING
The 1,000 foot-long sandy beach on Lake St. Clair is open, without lifeguards, May 1- September 30. The Olympic-size pool with waterslides and separate diving area open 11 a.m -7 p.m. daily, Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Lifeguards are on duty at the pool only. The bathhouse and beach shop are located by the pool, and a food bar is across the plaza.

TRACKLESS TRAIN
Shuttle service to Huron Point picnic and shore fishing areas, daily from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.

Train fee $.50/person - ages 15 and under free
