PARK AMENITIES

NEW - TURTLE COVE FAMILY AQUATIC CENTER OPENS THIS SUMMER!

Venture to this picturesque 1,258-acre park along the Huron River which features a beautiful Par-3 golf course, hike-bike trails and self-guided nature trails. Mature trees and the scenic Huron River provide the perfect backdrop to any activity. Ice skating ponds in the winter make Lower Huron Metropark your all-season getaway.

AQUATIC CENTER
Turtle Cove Aquatic Center opens May 24. Hours: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays; 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekends and holidays. Turtle Cove Aquatic Center has two water slides (body slide and tube slide with single and double tubes) endless lazy river, water playscape with a dumping bucket, zero depth entry pool that deepens into a four lane lap pool, and a sunning hill. Stop in at the Turtle Cove Grille for food and beverages (no outside food or beverages permit).

BIKING
The paved hike-bike trail, a little over four miles in length, connects to Willow and Oakwoods Metroparks for a longer, 30-mile round trip.


CAMPING
Year around sites are available for overnight and day camping for organized youth groups. Permit required.

CANOEING
Bring your canoe or kayak to paddle down the Huron River. Canoe maps for trips along the Huron River available at Park Office. Group camp available for overnight trips. Written permit required for camping.


COURT GAMES
Basketball and tennis courts are located near the pool complex. Volleyball, tennis and horseshoe equipment available upon request. Deposit required.


CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING
Cross country skiing (no groomed or marked trails).


FISHING
Shoreline fishing along the Huron River is available throughout the park.


GOLF
The Par-3, 18-hole golf course, with distances from 50 to 110 yards, is fun for all ages. Children must be at least five years old to play. Hours: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Special rates for senior citizens and juniors 17 and under (weekdays only). Golf club rental available.

HIKING
Two trails lead hikers through diverse woodlands within the floodplain of the Huron River. Bobwhite Trail begins across the park road from East Bend Picnic Area, and Paw Paw Trail begins at Sycamore Bend Picnic Area. Flat terrain. The paved hike-bike trail, a little over four miles in length, connects to Willow and Oakwoods Metroparks for a longer, 30-mile round trip.


ICE SKATING
Three natural ice rinks are provided at inter-connected ponds located in a ravine at the Foxwoods Picnic Area. Wood for rinkside fires is provided, and heated restrooms are nearby. Skating hours are 10 am to 9 pm.


PICNICKING
Picnic areas, picnic shelters and playgrounds are located throughout the park. Groups of 50 or more persons are requested to register at Park Office in advance. Reservation fee for shelters. Picnic catering available.
