The Hudson Mills Metropark Activity Center provides you with an opportunity to observe wildlife and plants in their natural habitats. Discover exhibits on Butterflies, Native American Indians, and Tree Identification. Meander through nature trails surrounding the activity center, teeming with plants and wildlife. Food service is available every weekend between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and when the cross-country ski rental is open. The disc golf courses, “tot lot” toddler playground, and baseball diamonds are located near this building. Rent, tennis rackets, volleyballs and basketballs spring through fall.
Hudson Mills Metropark has a ten-foot wide, paved path perfect for a day of biking. Skip spin class and cycle on 5.3 miles of trails coursing along the winding Huron River, through lush woodlands and expansive fields. Observe a variety of resident wildlife along the way.
The mixture of dense woodlands, shallow river waters, and serene wetlands attract a large variety of birds. Bring your binoculars for a chance to glimpse pileated woodpeckers, Louisiana waterthrush and blue-winged warblers. Follow the path of scarlet tanagers and indigo buntings. A nature interpreter maintains a park bird species list. Birding programs are held throughout the year. Volunteers help maintain our bluebird nest boxes throughout the park. Canoeing and kayaking along the Huron River is a popular activity at Hudson Mills Metropark. The winding river waters are suitable for all skill levels. Paddle past lush woodlands as you observe common goldeneye, hooded mergansers, and other waterfowl. Canoe trips finish at Delhi Metropark. A deposit is required. Rental is available May 1 through Labor Day, weather and river conditions permitting. We also offer weekend operation during April, September and October. Reservations are required. No matter what your favorite game, we have the perfect location for you. Plan a tennis match with friends or get the family active with a round of basketball or volleyball. Shuffleboard and other courts are located near the Activity Center, with equipment rentals available spring through fall.
Fasten your skis and enjoy a cross-country ski excursion on six miles of groomed trails at Hudson Mills Metropark. Glide past picturesque snow-glazed fields, ice-covered ponds, and beautiful deciduous forests. Take a refreshing drink from your water bottle on one of two rustic bridges overlooking the Huron River. The course has varied terrain and accommodates all skill levels. The Ski Touring /Activity Center, open weekends only, features a heated lounge, food service and public restrooms. Groups of 10 or more can make arrangements to ski during the week by calling (734) 426-8211.

Hudson Mills Metropark offers two, 24-hole disc golf courses that were rated among the top courses in Michigan. Challenge yourself and play amidst the beautiful open grasses, serene wetlands and dense woodlands. Disc rentals are available at the Activity Center year round.

Cast your line in the crisp, morning waters of the Huron River at Hudson Mills Metropark. A serene, natural setting and ample wildlife complete your experience. Common catches include smallmouth and largemouth bass. The area is well-known for fly-fishing, and there are good spots for shoreline fishing as well.
Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online. Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, with a strong sense of community and support for the environment.

Hudson Mills Metropark features a par-71, 6,650-yard, 18-hole course with a wide, level terrain on the front nine holes. Gently rolling hills, sand bunkers and a few water hazards line the back nine greens. Entrance to the Hudson Mills golf course is located on Dexter-Pinckney Road, 2 1/2miles South of North Territorial Road. Beer and wine are sold at the starter building; no coolers allowed.

Hudson Mills Metropark offers several hiking paths. Step onto the welcoming path of our flat, two-mile Acorn Nature Trail past bushy areas near the Huron River, or through densely wooded areas laden with flowering dogwood trees. Trek along a paved, 5.3-mile hiking/biking trail past abandoned fields, lush woodlands, and wetlands. In early spring you may spy blue-spotted and four-toed salamanders migrating around the Tamarack Swamp.

Stake out a shady spot and enjoy lunch at Hudson Mills Metropark. Four picnic shelter areas, grills and comfort stations are available for your next family reunion or corporate event. Groups of 50 or more who don’t wish to reserve a site should register their group at the park office, in advance, to determine availability of areas on the desired date.
