Nature Center
Watch the turtles swim in the turtle tank; pick up a box turtle; and check out the snakes, frogs, toads, salamanders, and fish - they all live here at the Oakwoods Nature Center. In addition to the live animals on display, you can peer into a wasp nest nearly three feet long or stop at the wildlife viewing room to watch birds at the birdfeeder while a swan makes a landing on the Huron River. Self-guided trails up to two miles long, some of which take you along the Huron River, radiate from the nature center building. A nearby canoe access leads to a backwater trail for canoeists and kayakers. The nature center holds nature-related programs and events throughout the year. Please call ahead to preregister for programs.
