WARREN C. EVANS
Governor Appointee

Warren C. Evans, Wayne County Sheriff and one of the state’s leading criminal justice professionals, was appointed as one of two Governor appointees on the Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority Board of Commissioners for a term expiring May 2, 2011.

Evans has held a broad range of positions in the field over the past 35 years, including his first 20 years within the Sheriff’s Office.

He also has served Director of Wayne County’s Department of Community Justice and as Chief of Special Operations at the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.

Evans always has been a lover of the great outdoors. He is an avid fisherman and loves to play golf whenever possible. He also is a lifelong horse rider and owns two of his own, Jesse and Max. In 1978, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol was established under Evan’s command as Lieutenant. Today, as Sheriff, Evans has brought the Mounted Unit’s stable up to 12 mounts and has trained seven new officers in anticipation of the first major expansion of the Mounted Unit.

Evans, who also is a licensed attorney, received his Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from Madonna University, a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Detroit-Mercy, and his Juris Doctorate from the Detroit College of Law.

A lifelong Detroit resident, Evans has two adult daughters and three granddaughters.

Evans replaces Governor appointee Harry E. Lester, who served on the HCMA Board and was named to represent Wayne County on the HCMA Board of Commissioners.
