Garlic Mustard Pull – Stony Creek

Join us in removing invasive species from Stony Creek Metropark. Depending on the weather, we will be removing garlic mustard or invasive shrubs. We will meet in the Nature Center parking lot (look for the Metroparks vehicle and blue flag). Volunteers receive free day entry to the park, just let the toll booth attendant know you are at the park for a volunteer workday.

Stand-Up Paddleboard Class for Kids

Come enjoy an afternoon on the water and learn the basic skills and safety of one of the fastest growing paddle sports. We’ll cover the basic techniques of forward stroke, reverse stroke, and turning on the stand-up paddleboard. Safety and self-rescue will be emphasized. All equipment is provided and included in program price. Meet at Kensington Metropark Maple Beach and come dressed for the water. Ages 10-16.

Travel back 300 years to the days of the fur trade on our 34-foot Voyageur canoe. We will guide you through the life of a Voyageur as you paddle the great canoe along the lakeshore.  Learn history, enjoy seeing wildlife, and get a little exercise during this evening program.
