March brings warm days and freezing nights, just what is needed to encourage sap flow in maple trees. Join us to explore the history of maple sugaring! Learn how to identify and tap a maple tree, and then see how we boil the sap down to syrup. Enjoy delicious French toast sticks dipped in real maple syrup as the program concludes. If you have ever been interested in taking care of farm animals then this is the program for you. Family Farm Chores allows you and your family a chance to assist a staff member as he/she feeds and cares for our farm animals. We encourage you to pet, take pictures and ask questions along the way. Take a Hike – Eagles

Maple’s Sweet Story

Take a guided walk through the farm’s sugar bush. Learn how to pick the right tree, then watch how maple trees are tapped and sap is collected. Stop by the French and Native camps to hear and see how these techniques have changed through the years. Be sure to visit the sugar shack to see and smell the sap being boiled down into maple sugar. Taste a sample of maple syrup at the end of the tour.  Maple sugar products will be available for purchase.  The Farmhouse Grille will have pancakes available to purchase as well. Tours begin every half hour, last approximately one hour and are entirely outdoors. Dress for the weather.
