Family Farm Chores – Farm Center

If you have ever been interested in taking care of farm animals, then this is the program for you! Family Farm Chores allows you and your family a chance to assist a staff member as he/she feeds and cares for our farm animals. We encourage you to pet, take pictures and ask questions along the way. Please dress for the barn and outdoor weather conditions. Approximately 60 minutes. Limit of 6 people per session. Minimum age is 6 years old. Please call to preregister, (586) 752-5932.

Ice Fishing for Beginners

Ice fishing is a perfect way to spend a winter day. Learn the basics of ice fishing, indoors, from ice safety to drilling the hole to attracting the fish. Then we’ll hit the ice and you can try it yourself. If possible bring your own ice fishing pole (available at many stores). Bait will be provided. Dress for being outside, you will need waterproof boots. You may want something to sit on, a bucket works well. Ages 6 and older. Please preregister, (810) 227-8917.

Self-Reliance: Shelter

Junior Naturalist: Maple Sugar

Rum-Running Stories

The Detroit River was a pretty busy place during Prohibition. With tremendous amounts of illegal liquor entering the United States from Canada during the 1920’s and early 1930’s, stories abound.
