Stormwater Workshop at Lake St. Clair Metropark
October 1 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Join us for our Stormwater Workshop at the Thomas Welsh Activity Center to offer your thoughts and concerns about the Metroparks’ existing stormwater system and help provide direction for our new Stormwater Management Plan.
Stormwater is rainwater or melted snow that runs off streets, lawns and other sites. When stormwater is absorbed into soil, it is filtered and ultimately replenishes aquifers or flows into streams and rivers. In developed areas, impervious surfaces such as pavement or roofs prevent precipitation from naturally soaking into the ground. Instead, water runs rapidly into storm drains, sewer systems and drainage ditches and can cause multiple issues and even contamination of water.
The purpose of a Stormwater Management Plan is to guide improvements for controlling stormwater runoff through collection, storage and movement.
Entry into the park is free for this Workshop.
Time: 6 – 7:30 p.m.
Location: Lake St. Clair Metropark – Thomas Welsh Activity Center
