Be aware of your safety everywhere you go. Here are some tips that can help keep you safe in your neighborhood, city, rural area or a park.
- Keep your purse, wallet or other valuables out of sight.
- Keep your keys with you, and never leave them lying around.
- Don’t leave change or cash out in the open.
- Lock and secure your car windows and doors.
- Do not lay any valuables around, especially in your vehicle. Keep valuables out of sight in your vehicle.
- Never leave anything with personal information, such as your address, phone number, credit card number, etc., out where someone can find it.
- Be alert and aware whenever walking, especially to your vehicle or in public places.
- Never walk with your hands full.
- As you approach your vehicle keep your head up. Look around and underneath your vehicle to make sure that no one is hiding on the other side.
- Check your vehicle’s back seat before getting in to make sure no one is hiding inside.
- Have your keys ready in your hand to enter your vehicle.
- Please place hot ash only in barrels labeled "Hot Ash" and respect "no grilling" zones. Don't dump hot ash/coals on the ground.
- Contact the Metroparks Police Department or a park employee, if you notice any suspicious person or vehicle at a Metropark.
