Groups of 50 or more who don’t wish to reserve a shelter should register their group at the park office, in advance, to determine availability of areas on the desired date. A day at Huron Meadows Metropark is never complete without lunch. Three designated picnic areas complete your experience. Sunset Ridge Picnic Area has a picnic shelter, volleyball court, children's play area and combination play/soccer field. Acorn Ridge Picnic Area has a picnic shelter and horseshoe pits. Both of these picnic areas offer spectacular views of Maltby Lake. A handicap accessible ramp and stairway lead to a fishing pier. Cedar Ridge Picnic Area near the Huron River has a picnic shelter, swings and a soccer field. To reserve these shelters, please contact the Hudson Mills Metropark office at (734) 426-8211.

Indian Springs Metropark provides a picture-perfect setting for picnics, reunions and parties. Enjoy tables, grills and two picnic shelters in the Meadowlark Picnic Area. Kids can romp and play for hours at a children’s play area with the Adventure Maze, rock-climbing wall and a tot lot. Or use a picnic shelter near the Park Office. Shelters may be reserved by contacting the Park Office at (248) 625-6640.
2013 Picnic Shelter reservation fee - $200
Kensington Metropark provides the perfect setting for your next picnic with 15 reservable picnic shelters, along with playgrounds, ball diamonds, comfort stations and tables throughout the metropark. Picnic with friends or family amidst rolling hills, tree-lined lawns and beautiful vistas of Kent Lake. Or, celebrate a family reunion, birthday, or corporate event. All groups, regardless of size, are encouraged to register. Groups of 50 or more, those bringing in special equipment, or having a special event are required to register. Any vehicle driving off-road (approved reasons only) must produce an off-road permit; which is obtained at the Park Office on the day of the picnic. Park entry fees are not included in the shelter reservation fee. The park is open from 6 am to 10 pm. For shelter reservations or picnic area registrations, contact the Park Office at 810-227-8910.
Kosch Catering is the exclusive catering company used at Kensington Metropark. All groups and organizations that will be using a reserved shelter or utilizing a picnic area on a first come, first served basis and having their event catered must use Kosch Catering. No other food service organizations will be permitted in the park. If you choose not to have your event catered, you are welcome to bring in your own food and prepare it (you just cannot have an outside company come into the park and provide your food for you). The cost to reserve a shelter in 2013 is $200; payment is due at the time of your reservation.
Scenic Lake Erie Metropark provides a perfect backdrop for your next picnic, reunion or company outing. This island-dotted waterscape presents Sturgeon Bar with distant profiles of Sugar Island, Grosse Ile and Celeron Island. The long low Canadian shoreline forms a background to this scene on the far eastern shore. On a clear day, view the historic Detroit River Lighthouse which has stood guard over the river mouth since 1885. Large freighters move up and down the water to the children’s delight. Picnic areas, playgrounds and picnic shelters are conveniently located near the Wave Pool and at Cove Point Picnic Area. Lakeside picnic areas feature picnic tables, grills and a wooded playscape. Lake St. Clair Metropark’s 770-acres, with breathtaking views of Lake St. Clair and open, grassy picnic areas, offers the perfect location for your next picnic or outdoor event. Host a large family reunion or company gathering for up to 250 people at the Par 3 picnic shelter, with two large grills, water and electrical outlets and handicapped-accessible tables conveniently located close to the golf course, tot lot, and comfort stations. Other picnic areas with grills, picnic shelters are located throughout the Metropark. Or, picnic with friends at a table near the marina.

All food service at Lake St. Clair Metropark must be arranged through Kosch Catering. Outside caterers are not permitted within the park.
