WALNUT GROVE CAMPGROUND
FAMILY RUSTIC CAMPING

Camp for a few days, a week, or even longer at the park’s scenic Walnut  Grove Campground, where 27 rustic campsites can be reserved May 3 through mid-October.

Things to do while camping with us...

Pack walking shoes, bikes or inline skates to use the paved hike/bike trail which goes for 15 miles through Lower Huron, Willow and Oakwoods Metroparks.

Play a family-friendly game of golf on the par-3 course.

Bring fishing rods to test your skills (and luck) from the fishing decks on the serene Huron River.

Start a game on the nearby basketball courts, the baseball diamond or the tennis courts.

Cool off at Turtle Cove Family Aquatic Center’s waterslides, pool and lazy river in the summer (Open Memorial day through Labor Day).

And, most importantly, relax around the campfire, and enjoy sleeping outdoors and waking up to birds chirping in the trees.  [To help stop the spread of forest pests and diseases, we strongly encourage campers to purchase campfire wood at the park.]

Reserve your campsite for just $20 a night, plus park entry ($5 per day per vehicle or a $25 annual permit, $15 for seniors 62+). Tents, campers and motor homes are allowed. Water and electricity are not available at the campsites. Modern restrooms are located within the Tulip Tree Campground. Shower facilities are available mornings, Memorial Day through Labor Day, at Turtle Cove Family Aquatic Center. Interpretive programs are offered on selected weekends.

In an effort to maintain the natural beauty of the campground area and protect trees from soil compaction, campsites are limited to one (1) camping vehicle (ie: motor home, travel trailer, pop-up camper, truck camper) and two (2) tents. Once campers are unhooked & camp supplies are unloaded, motor vehicles must be parked in the parking lot next to the campground.
