Kensington Metropark

Get quick access to Kent Lake at Kensington Metropark with 10 ramps at the East Boat Launch, 6 ramps at the West Boat Launch. A 10 M.P.H. speed limit is enforced. A Metropark Boat Launch Permit, in addition to your vehicle permit, is required for boats which are trailered in and can be purchased at the Metropark tollbooth or Park Office. If your boat (canoe, kayak or rowboat) is transported into the park in or on your vehicle you do not have to purchase a Boat Launch Permit. Boats are not permitted on Wildwing Lake or Kingfisher Lagoon.

Boat Slips

There are 93 slips available for rent each season. Slips are located in three separate areas; East Boat Launch, Mitten Bay and the Boat Rental. Boats may be docked beginning May 1st (unless inadequate rainfall postpones this date - you will be notified in advance if this occurs). Dockage decals expire October 31st. Boats must be removed on or before this date so that the water level can be lowered to the winter level. Metropark Vehicle and Boat Launching Permits are required all year. Contact the Park Office for availability at 248-685-1561.

Lake Erie Metropark

Make some of your best moments on the large, open waters of Lake Erie and the Detroit River at Lake Erie Metropark. A 12-boat ramp offers quick access to the Detroit River and Lake Erie considered “prime walleye country”. Enter the park through the main entrance on West Jefferson, just north of Huron River Drive to access the boat launch.

Metro Beach Metropark

Find quick access to Lake St. Clair at Metro Beach Metropark with eight ramps conveniently located near the North Marina along the Black Creek. Jet skis and kite boards can enter the water at the day sail launch located near the golf course.

If you are boating to Metro Beach plan on staying in the Marina at one of our transient utility docks or tying up at one of our transient seawall spaces. The Metro Beach Marina can accommodate approximately 217 vessels and soon have space for up to 265 boats after the renovation of the South Marina completes in the summer of 2010.

A Metropark Boat Launch Permit, in addition to your vehicle permit, is required for boats that are trailered in and can be purchased at the Metropark tollbooth or Park Office. Vehicle entry fees are also required for follow up vehicles.

Stony Creek Metropark

Reward yourself with panoramic vistas and a day of boating on 500-acre Stony Creek Lake at Stony Creek Metropark. A 6-ramp boat launch gives access to the water. A separate sailboard area is located near Eastwood Beach. Safe operation and a 10 mph speedlimit are enforced. A metroparks boat permit is required.
Boat storage Boats may be stored on their trailers. Summer season is mid-April through mid-October. Winter storage is mid-October through March 31.
